Roya Books

Before we talk about your project, let me tell you a little about myself.
I develop websites, software systems, mobile apps for Android and iPhone, and desktop applications. My experience connects the interface people use with what happens behind it: databases, application logic, and integrations between services and systems. I follow a project from its first idea through launch and operation, including all the details in between.
Large, complex systems are what draw me in most. I enjoy understanding them and organizing their parts, especially when the result becomes clear and easy to use. I am patient with problems, and I want to understand why something failed, as well as how to make it work.
I also have a recurring habit: whenever I finish something, I think of a way to improve it. That is why my list of ideas is usually longer than my task list!
I start by listening and trying to understand what you want the project to achieve, beyond what you want programmed. I recommend the solution I believe fits best, even if it is simpler or different from what you had in mind. During development, I test and try things out; I do not like leaving a problem I know about for you to discover after delivery.
Sometimes, though, I test and revise too much, spending longer than necessary on certain details while trying to get everything right. This can make a project take longer than I promised. It is something I need to manage better, and I know that caring about quality does not excuse delays; meeting the deadline is also my responsibility.
I like to understand your budget from the start, including the limit you do not want to exceed. That lets us discuss realistic options. If the requirements exceed the budget, we decide together what is essential at the beginning and what we can simplify or postpone.
Once the details are clear, I estimate the cost based on the amount of work, time and effort involved. We agree clearly on what is included and how we will handle additions later, so we do not start with different expectations.
Honestly, it bothers me when I realize I have agreed to a fee below what the work deserves. But an error in my estimate is not your responsibility. That is why I prefer to take my time estimating before I quote a price, so the agreement is fair to both of us and each person gets their due.
